Benefits of gifts of cash

  • You can immediately start your endowment fund to leave a lasting legacy or grow your donor advised fund (DAF) to streamline your philanthropy
  • By contributing cash to your DAF, you can take a charitable income tax deduction
  • By planning ahead, you may be able to "bunch" your giving by contributing more to your DAF this year. By "bunching" you make a large gift, which when combined with other itemized deductions will place you above the standard deduction. You earn an itemized deduction in the year of the gift and then distribute those dollars over the next few years via your DAF. (please consult your tax advisor to determine the best outcome for your financial plans)

How to make a gift of cash

You can mail us or drop off a check or money order. Please let us know if you want your gift used for a specific purpose by indicating that purpose either in the memo line or in a letter to us. We also accept credit card donations.

More on gifts of cash

Did you know that you can mail a check on December 31st and, even if the check is not received and cashed by JCF until after the new year, the IRS will allow you to take a deduction in the year the check was mailed? Keep this in mind for year-end tax planning!
